British Food Fortnight is established as the biggest, national celebration of British food and drink, held every autumn during harvest time. Since 2002, this flagship event run by Love British Food is all about celebrating the food that’s grown and produced throughout Great Britain and promotes the importance of sustaining home-grown produce and farming.
At Tangmere, we’re passionate about growing the very best quality sweet bell peppers to the highest farm assurance standards and delivering sustainable farming practices. As one of LEAF’s Demonstration Farms, we enjoyed having the opportunity to join the LEAF team, Justine Hards and LEAF Chief Executive, Caroline Drummond (who has recently become an Ambassador for Love British Food) for a Zoom chat – all aimed at discussing provenance, biodiversity and sustainable farming methods.

“We’re delighted that Love British Food and LEAF gave Tangmere the opportunity to share what we do to produce our peppers as part of the fortnight of food activities. I very much enjoyed taking part in the conversation to discuss some of the key challenges in our sector, explaining our integrated farming – how we protect the crop using insects, and the importance of our trials glasshouse in advancing British pepper production.”
