The Rickshaw Challenge is back for 2020, as Matt Baker and a team of six incredible young people who have directly benefitted from Children in Need funding, take on the challenge for the tenth year. Tangmere is delighted to join forces with members of the West Sussex Growers’ Association, who have organised a fundraiser to benefit the charity.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the challenge cannot take its normal path across the whole of the UK this year, so the original plan was to complete the 332 mile ride behind closed doors within the Goodwood Estate, Chichester, using the race track, race course and the estate grounds.
However, in the current climate and to ensure the riders safety, the decision was taken early on, to send the young participants home and instead continue the challenge virtually – attempting to reach the target on exercise bikes safely from their houses.
The rickshaw cyclists will stay in touch over video chat, with Matt updating the BBC ‘One Show’ each evening on their progress. The mammoth eight-day challenge will finish on Friday 13th November when the 2020 Children in Need appeal show airs on BBC One. Go Team Rickshaw! Tangmere is cheering you on.
